I have painted wall murals in London, Italy and America for over 15 years, anything from a haunted forest to capturing the delicacy of faded Chinese silk wallpaper, or a 20' x 16' painting of Adam and Eve in the Medieval style to an ultra modern grotesque nude. With a mural or fresco, you can create an ambience from any period: Medieval, Renaissance, Victorian etc and evoke any style: theatrical, gothic, art deco etc.
Trompe l'oeil work is a specialty of mine, creating the illusion with paint of something that isn't really there: i.e. an open window with a view, let's say, when there is a windowless room, or conjuring marble columns, or stone statues, in any faux finish you can think of, to enhance a conservatory with a Roman theme; turning a modern fibreboard door into an exotic wooden one with beautiful graining; painting chickens on a shelf alongside old books when all there really is is a flat cupboard. Trompe l'oeil can be most effective on ceilings (painting a fake sky to give height) and walls (adding arches or architectural features where there are none) but even on floors (turning wood to marble or mosaic). There are no limits.
Decorative art is often requested when clients decide to customise plain pieces of furniture to blend with their home's theme or style: an ugly fridge may need beautifying with birds and flowers or a white vase may need to match the only one of a pair of Imari vases. A wardrobe may be disguised as an Oriental screen or a pine chest of drawers may be painted to match leopard-print furnishings. Edwardian images of Punch and Judy can adorn plain walls or turn a piece of furniture into a puppet theatre.
I also paint portraits and have often been commissioned to copy a grand master's portrait of Lord Byron, Bach, Mozart or Dante in oils, or even put someone's beloved pet in a famous human body of Napoleon or Sir Walter Raleigh. I love painting nudes, too, and can paint in any style: C16th to Modern.
Wowww... Fascinating Such a talent. Well done
